The problem — a patio gutter butted straight up against the house gutter, rusted through where the two meet.
If your patio gutter overflows every time it properly rains, it’s usually not the gutter failing — it’s the design. Two roofs draining into one small house gutter, or a patio gutter butted up against the house gutter, gives that water nowhere to go. The volume was never going to fit.
Left alone, the overflow runs back into the eaves, down the wall and into the ceiling. Rotten fascia and battens, stained plaster and water sitting around the patio posts all cost far more to put right than the guttering ever would have.
We fix it properly: large custom-made Colorbond® box gutters and commercial-size downpipes, sized for the water actually coming off both roofs. When it comes to shifting that much water, bigger is better — capacity, not a patch.
While we’re there we can sort the sheeting too. Years of Western Australian sun leaves polycarbonate sagging, brittle and cracked, so we’ll either replace it or talk through a full patio re-roof and re-gutter in Colorbond®, matched to the rest of your home.
